Ali Mosdell: News report disappointing

I am disappointed in how the Maple Ridge & Pitt Meadows Times handled the story on the tragic loss of a young woman who was raised in our community [Friends react to fatal overdose, Aug. 7, TIMES].

Ali Modsell was a beautiful and caring young woman with a wonderful and fun-loving personality. Your article was hurtful, and not supported by the facts resulting in the loss of Ali.

Having lived in Maple Ridge for the past 23-plus years, I expect more from our local paper than this. The Mosdell family and all who care about them are distraught by the TIMES’s lack of empathy and concern for one of its own. Quoting tweets is tacky, and I am disappointed over this tabloid-style writing.

Shame on you!

Steffie Amlee, Maple Ridge
