Ruth & Naomi's Mission officially opened its doors on Saturday and drew a packed house of those who helped build the facility, along with volunteers, local politicians and the curious. MLA John Les was on hand to present a cheque in the amount of $387,000, which will go towards paying down capital costs incurred while making the dirt beneath the building safe according to environmental standards. "This place is a credit to our entire community," Les said. "They bought it and never asked for a handout." Les also said the government is working on providing operational funding for the mission.
