Dear Editor,
There has been no shortage of negative comments about Smart Meters. BC Hydro claims it cannot go back to the old ones because they have all been destroyed. A former employee told me they've still got quite a few.
They also claim they are no longer obtainable. Rubbish, they are still being manufactured.
Hydro claims Smart Meters are more efficient. Maybe. But having them thrust down our throats guarantees there will be resistance to them.
From hour to hour they can put you on different rates. With automation, though, who's to know just what you are paying? Is it a sly way of collecting yet more taxes?
Then to prove how inefficient the corporation is, they sign long-term contracts to purchase power they don't need, and now have to sell at a huge loss. We are now into the glue for some billions of dollars, give or take.
Guess who is now on the hook for this fiasco?
