A 43-year-old Maple Ridge man was arrested after he was allegedly caught in the act of painting a stolen boat.
The boat’s owner contacted Ridge Meadows RCMP around 3 p.m. on Wednesday to report his boat had been stolen from the 14400 block of Rippington Road in Pitt Meadows.
The RCMP investigator took the boat’s owner to a marina on River Road where the boat was found.
The man, who police say is known to them for property crimes, was arrested for possession of stolen property, but was then released on the condition he would appear in court at a later date.
“Here’s where a good hunch paid off.” said Ridge Meadows RCMP Sgt. Dale Somerville. “As a result, police were able to get the victim’s expensive boat back, and a suspect was arrested.”
