As a kid growing up in Maple Ridge, Larry Walker dreamed of one day playing goal for the Canucks, but after being cut as a junior prospect from Kelowna and Regina, he opted for baseball.
The five-time Major League Baseball all-star, seven-time winner of the Gold Glove Award and three-time National League batting champion will be at Nat Bailey Stadium on Aug. 13 as part of the Canadians Superstar Series.
Walker was named to the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007 and the BC Sports Hall of Fame in 2009. Theres a big push now to have him inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y., where he belongs.
