The Atom Knights travelled to Mission last weekend to take on the Mission Niners. Knights offensive linemen, Tyson Caughy, and James Harder, kept the Niner defense at bay and gave running backs, Riley Rooney and Nicho Zolliker and opportunity to run for big gains along the sidelines as Rooney saw his first two touchdowns of the season.

Linebackers Isaiah Cavelli and Aiden Sanderson dominated the Mission offense, but a couple of broken plays put the Niners into the end zone twice as well.

A missed convert was all that kept the Knights out of the win column this weekend as the Knights fell to the Niners 13-12.

For the Peewee Blue team the defense was led by linemen Justin Nickel, Nathan Barr, Alex Trostheim, Avery Fitchett.

Declan Fitzpatrick controlled the line of scrimmage making it hard for Mission to run the ball inside.

The offence led by quarterback Tyler Spencer and running backs Evan Vasarhely, Liam Cumarasamy, and Brayden Hamilton had numerous long drives on the day with Brayden Hamilton scoring the only touchdown for Meadowridge.

The PeeWee Gold Knights defeated the North Langley Bears 33-0 on Saturday at McLeod Athletic Park in Langley.

Leading the Knights’ shutout were Jay Sachar and Blake Alford with interceptions and Eric Clark also had an interception returned for a touchdown.

The Knights offence had a strong game running behind the blocking of Daruis Joseph, Jaidon Scott, and Will Bartolo.

Cade Cote rushed for three touchdowns and Brock Pelwecki added the other. The Gold Knights play the Meadowridge Blue Knights next Saturday at Samuel Robertson Technical with the game starting at 12:45 p.m.

The Junior Bantam team defeated the Mission 49ers 30-22.

Drake Kindred led the way by returning the opening kickoff for a touchdown. He also had an interception for a touchdown later in the game.

Brandon Hunt received a pass for a touchdown and ran for another. Special Teams was outstanding with Jake Loftus kicking three out of four through the uprights.

The offensive line of Angus MacDonald, Andrew Grimason, Mason Reeves, Anthony Cameron, and Jack Kuris had a strong game. The first home game of the season is Sept. 8, at 5 p.m. when they will host the Abbotsford Black Team.

The Knights Midget team opened their season with a new coaching staff by taking on the pre-season number 1 North Delta Longhorns.

Brendan Atkinson and Tanner Hartley each rushed for a touchdown and quarterback Trevor Casey hit Joe Schuster for a 40-yard touchdown pass as the Knights pulled off a 20-7 upset victory.

The defense was led by the pressure from defensive ends Matthew Chichka and Elijah Goerzen and linebackers Brett Boyce and Mark Kalmykov.

Next action for the Midget Knights is Saturday, Sept. 8 at 2:30 p.m. when they host the Vernon Magnums at Samuel Robertson School.
