Battlefield Fight League, the biggest local organization for Mixed Martial Arts in B.C., hosted more than 20 fights this past weekend and Maple Ridge’s Oliver Vajda appeared on the main card.

Vajda, who fights out of Maple Ridge’s premier MMA club, Carlson Gracie Academy, improved his incredible undefeated record to eight wins and no losses.

Vajda is the current bantamweight champion in two separate organizations. His debut in Battlefield would be an important one as he has his eyes set on a third title shot.

Vajda was the 19th fight on the action-packed card. The first round saw the two combatants meet in the centre of the caged octagon. Immediately the height advantage for Vajda became obvious and he used this advantage to his benefit striking and kicking within his range.

For the next two rounds, the fight fans saw much more of the same. The champ completely dominated his opponent with devastating kicks to the legs and head and unstoppable punch combinations.

Much credit is given to Joe Pirotta for withstanding the abusive three rounds. Pirotta, in his defence, tried to take the Carlson Gracie fighter down on numerous occasions with no success.

As a result, a unanimous decision was given to Vajda. Vajda’s record now improves to 8-0. Battlefield Fight League promoters are looking at a title fight for Vajda at the end of November. For more news on this event log on to www.CarlsonGracieMMA.com.
