Four members of Maple Ridge’s Alouette Achilles Running Club competed in the Ford Ironman Triathlon on the island of Cozumel, Mexico on Nov. 25.

Of the four triathletes Bruce Butler crossed the line first at 14:11. He was followed 43 minutes later by Chad Allen and Marla Weinheimer who crossed at 14:54. Mary Butler crossed the finish line at 15:17.

The endurance race, which took place under hot and windy conditions, consisted of a 3.8-kilometre ocean swim, followed by a 180-kilometre bike ride, and finished with a 42-kilometre run, all to be completed in less than 17 hours
