But, after day one, it was Victoria's Kevin Carrigan who led with 67.
Kang, who is from North Vancouver, shot a 73; Lee, who is from Coquitlam, shot a 74; and Pitt Meadows' Kwon finished with a 75.
The championship takes place this week on the par 72, 7,000-yard resort course in Pitt Meadows.
From July 24 to 27, golfers are playing one of Swan-e-set's two championship golf courses that were designed by golf legend Lee Trevino.
This is the first time Swan-e-set has played host to the BC Amateur Championship. Pitt Meadows Golf Club hosted the event in 1988, which saw Doug Roxburgh take the title.
Kwon, a Team Canada Development Squad member and Pitt Meadows resident, is favoured to win on his home turf.
Spectators are welcomed and encouraged to attend the free event, which wraps up with an awards ceremony on Friday.
