Teams earn mixed results

The Knights win some and lose some on the weekend

Travelling to Chilliwack this weekend, the Atom Knights took part in an old-school trench battle when they met up with the Giants.

Special teams played a vital role with Jessie Chartrand and Tristan Maschke keeping the Giant's returners pinned in their own end, while defensively, continuous pressure up the middle by Austin Pattenden and Lucas Deane kept the offence on its heels.

Grinding out the ground game for the Knights, offensive linemen Tyson Smith, Gabe Fitzpatrick, and James Harder stood shoulder to shoulder to earn every yard their ball carriers gained.

When it was over the Knights put another one in the win column, defeating the Giants 12-7.

The Bantam Knights football team recently played the Abbotsford Falcons, battling to a 8-43 loss.

A gutsy call on the third down in the second quarter resulted in a touchdown. Tyrel Ogloff threw a pass to Brian Dongalen for the completion. The convert kick by Chico David, went right over the fence for a point.

Late in the second quarter a long kick by David resulted in an extra point for the touchback.

Their next game will be Oct. 13 at 3 p.m. against the North Langley Bears at Samuel Robertson Technical.

The Junior Bantams played hard on Friday night under the lights in Chilliwack against the Chilliwack Blue Team finishing with a 8-32 loss.

Mark Podschadly completed a pass to Tato Ferreyro-Araya for the first touchdown of the game. Jake Loftus kicked it through the uprights for an additional two points. Strong defensive effort were put in by Eric Ross and Sean Roy.

Their next game is Oct. 6, at 2: 30 p.m. against the Chilliwack Reds at Townsend Field.
