To thank their team for all their hard work in soccer and for their donation to the Haitian women's national team in March, coaches Jamie Schwingenschloegl and Lance Kraus planned a special surprise.
Two members of the Canadian women's national soccer team, Lauren Sesselmann and Desiree Scott, were asked to spend time with the star-struck local U12 Pride girls soccer team showing them a few moves with a training session, and to wrap up the exciting evening, answer an onslaught of questions from the girls, coaches, and a few parents.
On Wednesday the soccer superstars were at Westview Secondary's turf field from 5 to 7 p.m.
"This was about giving back to the girls because they work really hard for the community," said Schwingenschloegl, who said the highlight for him was watching the girls listen to Scott and Sesselmann talk about the commitment it takes to get to their level and how much their education played roles in getting them to where they are today.
