The fourth annual Pacific Cup Regatta will take place this weekend at Whonnock Lake.

The regatta is an end-of-season competition for canoe and kayak paddlers in Atom, Peewee, Bantam, and Masters levels.

Hundreds of athletes will be competing from clubs coming from Alberta, Washington, and other parts of B.C. to compete at the regatta.

Flatwater Canoeing and Kayaking are Olympic Sports - this year three Canadians medalled in London.

The Ridge Canoe and Kayak Club is the largest competitive canoe club in B.C.

Ridge Canoe And Kayak Club is a flat-water sprint paddling club. It consists of athletes of all levels residing in the communities of Maple Ridge, Mission, Pitt Meadows and the surrounding areas.

Initially begun as an Olympic racing club in 1982, RCKC has attracted members with interests in many areas of paddling sports including recreational, marathon, and competitive canoeing, kayaking, and dragon boating.

As the largest multi-disciplined paddling club in B.C., athletes have competed locally, nationally, and internationally.

The club is not limited to competitive athletes.

There are fun, family-friendly programs for recreational paddlers which can be registered through the Maple Ridge Parks & Leisure.

The regatta is at Whonnock Lake Sept. 29 and 30, from 8: 30 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.

Ridge Canoe And Kayak Club is at 27871 113th Ave. in Maple Ridge.
