Local athletes brought several medals back from the 2012 BC Winter Games in Vernon last weekend.
In the alpine skiing events, which were held at Silver Star Mountain, Cultus Lake downhill skier Jesse Howden claimed a silver medal in the slalom. Howden also finished 10th in the giant slalom and 17th in the skicross.
Chilliwack speed skaters won a pair of medals.
Dallas Hawkes won bronze in the 400metre girls event. She also finished fifth in the 1,500-metre girls A final. Rebekah Clemons, meanwhile, grabbed a bronze medal in the girls 1,500-metre. She also finished third in the 400-metre B final. Quinn Mackay grabbed first in the 1,500-metre B final and second in the 400-metre B final, while teammate Dominique Hawkenson finished second in the 1,500metre B final.
In karate, Chilliwack's Jacob Maude won bronze in individual kale. Jayden Lane matched his medal with a bronze of her own in the individual 44-kg female kumite.
Local cross-country skier Nathan Stothers finished 11th in the individual sprint midget boys 400-metre event and 17th in the 3.5kiometre race.
