Erick Villanueva, a Grade 8 student at Thomas Haney Secondary, was awarded by B.C. Athletics for his performances in the long jump and triple jump, where he was tops in the province for both events. His best triple jump of 10.86 metres led the province this year.

Erick received his award from BC Athletics and Jessica Smith (2012 Canadian Olympian held in London for 800-metres) and Ruky Abdullai (2008 Canadian Olympian in Beijing for long jump) on Sunday in Vancouver.
