Lions ride roars

Lions Pride will be roaring at Garibaldi Secondary on Friday. At 1:20 p.m. members of the BC Lions Football Club – Dean Valli, J.R. LaRose, and Rolly Lumbala – will visit Garibaldi Secondary in Maple Ridge in support of the Lions Pride program.

“Framing the message around positive messaging will be huge,” said Grant Frend, Garibaldi principal.

“Professional athletes are role models for kids, so even if you don’t necessarily love sports, we all recognize achieving excellence requires positive choices,” Frend added.

In partnership with the Victim Services and Crime Prevention Division of the Ministry of Public Safety, Lions Pride is an outreach program highlighting the importance of making positive choices and choosing alternate activities to gang involvement.

Lions Pride delivers in-school presentations and organizes a football tournament for at-risk youth.

Garibaldi Secondary is at 24789 Dewdney Trunk Rd.
