Paul McCallum had a perfect night at BC Place on Sunday. Unfortunately for him and his BC Lions’ teammates, his efforts were in vain.

While the BC Lions fell hard in the Canadian Football League West Division Sunday afternoon at BC PLace, Paul McCallum had a memorable night.

The 42-year-old Maple Ridge realtor and Lions’ kicker had a perfect night, going five-for-five booting field goals for the home team, which lost 34-29 to the underdog Calgary Stampeders.

With the win, the Stamps punched their ticket to this Sunday’s Grey Cup showdown against the Toronto Argonauts at Rogers Centre in Toronto.

The Lions mounted a furious comeback late in the game but fell short.

Deperate to to get the ball back in the dying seconds, the Lions tried an onside kick attempt.

McCallum’s short kick was well placed, but just missed its mark, landing in the hands of a Stampeder and sealing the Lions’ fate.

The Lions other points came on a long interception return by Korey Banks and a touchdown reception by Nick Moore on a pass from quarterback Travis Lulay late in the game.
