Eight athletes from Shasta Trampoline are among Canada’s most promising trampoline gymnasts.
The group, including two Maple Ridge siblings, are representing Canada at 2012 Indo Pacific Championships.
Poppy and Cam Quinlan of Maple Ridge, are in Sydney Australia with teammates Ben and Duncan Blais (New Westminster), Liam Doherty (Surrey), Tyler Edwards (North Vancouver), Olivia Bortolazzo (Burnaby), and Brittany Falconer (Delta).
After months of intensive training under the direction of Val Johnson, head coach and founder of Shasta Trampoline, these young athletes were selected to represent Canada at the 2012 Indos, which run from Tuesday, Oct. 16 to Saturday, Oct. 20.
This year, the event is being hosted by Gymnastics Australia at the Sydney Olympic Park Sports Centre.
The best trampoline athletes from countries along the Pacific and Indian Oceans will be there.
This competition is held every two years and was established to provide athletes from non-European countries an opportunity to compete in an international event.
“All the athletes are excited and ready to compete at their best,” said Johnson.
Curt DeWolff, a member of Shasta’s elite coaching team will be accompanying the athletes to Sydney.
