Celestina Popa Gymnastics of Maple Ridge competed in its first competition this year at the Christy Fraser Memorial Invitational in Langley March 8 to 10.
Lina Gazzola came first all around in bars and beam, and first and second on floor. Emily Martins came sixth all around and third on bars.
“This is the second year when our athletes have had excellent results,” said Celestina Popa-Toma, Romanian Olympic silver-medalist and program director.

“Last year we had an athlete that qualified the B.C. Championships and this year we have two athletes,” she added.
This competition was trials (qualifications for Zone 3) for B.C. Championships in Prince George.
