Ridge Meadows Minor Hockey H3 Young Guns, a team of seven year olds, won a photo opportunity with Mr. Hockey, Gordie Howe, who was at .

“It was pretty amazing,” said mom Crystal Monforton, whose son Andrew plays on the team.

One of the kids’ great grandfather used to play with Howe.

“He went up to him and said my great grandpa is Tough Guy Tony and he knew right away,” said Monforton.

Gordie Howe is know for elbowing and pretended to elbow one Young Gun, explained Monforton.

“The kid said I don’t know why he was doing that,” she said

The team sold close to 500 tickets thanks to local companies that helped to donate 100 tickets to Maple Ridge Community Services - such as 708 Syndicated Clothing, Canada Iron Works, Maple Ridge Orthodontics, Pacific Gateway Refridgeration, International Machinery, and IQ Ice.
