The women's soccer team is one step closer to a medal.

Canada advanced to the semifinal of the women's Olympic soccer tournament by defeating the host nation Great Britain 2-0 in the quarter-finals of the London Olympics on Friday.

Before the match, Maple Ridge's Hometown Hero Karina LeBlanc tweeted: "So proud 2B part of this team! Next up GB Friday night in Coventry. We know it'll b an amazing environment. These r the moments we dream about." [sic].
