Saturday was Cranberry Day at Hopcott Farms in Pitt Meadows. Scores of people turned out for the event to celebrate the local harvest of one of B.C.'s major agricultural crops.
From cranberry pancakes and necklaces to a miniature bog where kids could practice their harvesting techniques, the event offered ways for attendees to interact with the farm that included a petting zoo, a pig race, and a tractor tour of its 70 acres of cranberry bogs.
The B.C. harvest makes up roughly 12 per cent of the total North American crop, and yields about 77 million pounds a year... give or take a few million pounds.
