Dear Editor,
The Golden Ears Gogos partnered with Samuel Robertson Technical School to put on our first fundraising dinner, on Dec. 3.
Our group raises funds for the Stephen Lewis Foundation Grandmothers to Grandmothers campaign, which supports grandmothers in Africa who are struggling to support their AIDS-orphaned grandchildren.
We will be sending a substantial donation to help those worthy recipients as a result of the dinner.
We would like to commend the school, the chef in charge of the VCC culinary program, the students, the custodial staff, and indeed, all staff members who were involved with the project.
The evening was a huge success, with a delicious meal capably prepared and served to 125 guests by the culinary students who were doing formal service for the first time. Our tickets sold out quickly, and we had nothing but positive comments from the attendees.
We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who was part of this project.
Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows are indeed fortunate to have schools willing to make connections with community groups, and to help those in need.
