Acouple of senior butchers are bringing their wealth of knowledge back to a Pitt Meadows meat store.

A 75-year-old woman and her 81-year-old husband are giving it a go again and have re-opened Kuiper's Nicola Meats.

Nellie and Mino Kuiper, who have been married for 56 years, decided to open their butcher shop again after 13 years leasing it out to another butcher.

"We never have been out of business, because we have a butcher shop in Merritt," said Nellie, claiming she has been working at both places - Pitt Meadows and Merritt - for about a month. "We've repainted and cleaned it up - refurbished it. People who used to shop here came back," said Nellie.

"Our cow operation produces 200 calves a year. They are raised and grown out on our own ranch - truly natural beef that we can sell in our two stores, one here in Pitt Meadows and one in Merritt," said Mino.

Kuiper's is planning to have a grand re-opening soon. Kuiper's is at 18389 Ford Rd.
