Cinema Politica presents Bevel Up: Drugs, Users and Outreach Nursing, an award-winning film chronicling the work of the BC Centre of Disease Control (BCCDC) street nurses as they provide compassionate, effective health care to men and women in Vancouver's inner city. Special guests are Ann Livingston and David Murray from the Vancouver Area Network Drug Users and Dave Diewit from End Prohibition Now. Due to the subject matter, this film may not be suitable for a younger audience, and parental guidance is requested. The movie will be shown at 7 p.m. (doors open at 6: 30 p.m.) at Maple Ridge municipal hall, 11995 Haney Pl. Admission is free.

October 2...Maple Ridge Library is celebrating Canadian Library Month with a customer appreciation event. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the library foyer and will include free cake and coffee for the public, as well as a scavenger hunt, a demonstration of some of the latest eReaders and tablets, backroom tours of the circulation area, and an instant prize wheel.
