Two men were caught in the act of stealing gas from a golf course in Pitt Meadows on Sunday morning.

Just before 1:30 a.m. Oct. 8, police received a tip about a suspicious vehicle entering the Meadow Gardens Golf Course.

Police attended to the golf course grounds, and found the two men helping themselves to gas, explained Ridge Meadows RCMP Cpl. Alanna Dunlop.

“This case fully illustrates how our citizens assist police. These two thieves felt they could hide in the cover of darkness and commit this crime undetected. They didn’t count on someone being alert and calling us,” Dunlop said.

A 58-year-old Mission man was arrested and later released with a court date for later this month. His 37-year-old Maple Ridge accomplice was found in breach of a probation order, and he was remanded in custody till Tuesday.
