Police arrested a 28-year-old man Thursday night, who they’d been hunting for a week.
Clayton Quigley was wanted for assaulting an officer after he was found inside a business on River Road on the morning of Thursday, Nov. 1.
Quigley managed to get away from police that morning, and evaded arrest until Thursday when he was caught by RCMP at a Dewdney Trunk Road residence, just before 9 p.m.
“After the events on Nov. 1, Mr. Quigley became a priority for our detachment,” said Ridge Meadows Supt. Dave Walsh.
“His actions that day caused the lockdown of an elementary school, and concerned our entire community,” he said.
“All of this will be presented to local Crown Counsel and presented to the courts. I would like to personally thank the diligence of all our citizens, and our RCMP members and civilian employees who worked together to get Mr. Quigley into custody and make our community safer,” added Walsh.
“I also would like to acknowledge the assistance of the RCMP Lower Mainland Police Service’s Police Dog team in ensuring this arrest was made with minimal danger to police and public in the area,” he said.
Quigley was held in police custody for a court appearance on Friday, Nov. 9.
