A 54-year-old man was struck by a car when he attempted to cross a dimly-lit road outside of a crosswalk, according to Ridge Meadows RCMP Cpl. Alanna Dunlop.
The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, in the 21700 block of the Lougheed Highway in Maple Ridge.
Paramedics took the man to hospital by ambulance with what is felt to be non-life threatening injuries, explained Dunlop.
The 37-year-old Burnaby man, who was driving a Nissan, was not physically hurt, but was badly shaken by the incident.
The investigation into the cause of the accident is continuing.
Thieves smash and grab booze
A restaurant in Maple Ridge is a few bottles of liquor short after a robbery early this morning.
At about 3:45 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, thieves smashed the front glass door to Sagres Restaurant, which is located in the 22500 block of Dewdney Trunk Road, and stole an unknown quantity of liquor, before fleeing the scene, said Dunlop.
Police are asking for anyone who may have been in the area at this time to call Ridge Meadows RCMP at 604-463-6251 in an attempt to identify those responsible.
