This weekend will mark the revival of an age-old tradition.
The Scouts are going to sell Christmas trees.
The 1st Haney Scout Group, which includes Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, and Venturers, met up at Golden Ears United Church on Monday night to discuss the restored fundraiser.
Jonathon Smyth, the local Scouts commissioner, said its been about 25 years since the local Scouts have sold Christmas trees.
We are selling the trees to raise money for the Scouts, said 14-year-old Venturer Gage Crawford.
I think it will be really cool. Ive never done it, selling trees, so it will be a fun experience, said Gage.
Scout Jake Bryan, 13, said the trees will fund a trip to Alberta.
We are fundraising for Canadian Jamboree. This will be our first time at CJ, Jake explained.
Its probably going to be a lot more fun than selling chocolate bars. Its going to be good, Jake added.
Tree sales will take place in the parking lot of the Caps Westwood Cycle starting Dec 1. A variety of locally grown trees, like Noble, Fraser, Douglas, and short trees, popcorn and hot chocolate will be on sale.
Caps Westwood Cycle is at 21626 Lougheed Hwy.
