Speakers are lined up for a Maple Ridge meeting this Wednesday about the proposed Kinder-Morgan pipeline expansion.
The Fraser Valley Pipeline Watch Group hosts the Maple Ridge Pipeline Town Hall Meeting on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Golden Ears United Church.
Confirmed panelists and speakers include Chief Ed Pierre of the Katzie First Nation, Chief Reuben George, Sundance Chief from the Tsleil-Waututh First Nation, Jack Emberly, a local author and environmentalist, Sven Biggs, the campaign director for Tanker Free BC, Sheila Muxlow, a Chilliwack resident involved with the Pipe Up Network, and Michael Hale, a member of Pipe Up Network.
Verity Howarth, a volunteer with the Fraser Valley Pipeline Watch Group, said that concerns include the negative impact a pipeline or tanker spill could have on the Fraser River, and generally increased tarsands development and tanker traffic.
After the presentations by the speakers, there will be an opportunity for audience members to ask questions.
