A Maple Ridge child was airlifted to BC Children' s Hospital Thursday night. The injuries are unknown at this time, but are thought to be non-life threatening.

Both a ground and air ambulance responded to a home at the 23100 block of 124A Avenue at around 5 p.m.

“Unfortunately, the dispatch does not have an idea as to the criticality (of the injury),” said BC Ambulance Service spokeswoman Catherine Bianco.

Harry Hartwig lives down the street from the home where the accident happened and told a reporter that “a child fell down the stairs and they took him away in an ambulance.”

Other reports indicate that the child fell from a window.
