A man dressed in contractor-type brown overalls strolled into a jewellery store in Valley Fair Mall and walked right back out with a tower of jewelry.
Ryan Jewellers owner Thanh Cao said he lost about $3,000 or $4,000 worth of Swarovski jewelry Thursday morning.
The whole tower. A customer came in and said how come theres a guy carrying the whole case out, said Thanh, who chased after the man but couldnt find him.
Im feeling that we are living in a beautiful country and if the police cant do anything for this case, I feel bad for the community, Thanh explained.
We have 16 cameras, in every corner, we got everything, he said, adding that he has video clips of the man leaving with the jewelry.
Insp. Dave Fleugel hopes that someone will recognize the man.
Ridge Meadows detachment is very concern about this brazen theft of jewelry from right inside the Valley Fair Mall, said Fleugel.
We are seeking the publics assistance in identifying this unknown suspect, the inspector added.
At the time of the incident Thanh had two girls working on the floor and one went to the washroom, and he was working in the back.
I will be asking the crime prevention team to talk to the owner to offer advice to help prevent a reoccurrence of this type of theft, Fleugel said.
Anyone with information in regards to this crime is asked to contact Ridge Meadows RCMP at 604-463-6251.
