Dear Editor,
Pitt Meadows is defiant in reducing taxes in the face of the ongoing public petition. We are riddled with a succession of weak administration and arrogance.
With tax hikes, we could buy clown costumes for City hall. They operate like a tiny dictatorship rather than trim the fat to ethically lower taxes.
We see RCMP cluster two or three cops for radar on Harris Road rather than allocate them in an efficient and effective way to lower poor 911 response times. Speed traps are good, but don't waste three or more cops in a spot.
Split them up to better serve the community. Where are their bosses, at Tim Horton's?
It is the same poor value in our City hall, with their spending ways and costly staff who look bored when you visit the hall. It's a semi-retirement pad.
It's time to sublet jobs to save dollars.
How much will we pay for a storage grounds-keeper house off Bonson park? Real smart: it's next to a hockey court where they use hard balls and pucks. And we'll pay for the broken glass and house damage.
Our mayor follows the path of her predecessor with a history of costly silliness: a joke cultural centre, new library, ice arena receivership, and more.
Uniformed people in power think spending cash will bring revenue - wrong.
Other areas are managed better and make efforts to stalemate taxes, but not here.
Where's the restaurant, pub, school, etc. promised by realtors, developers, and City hall seven years ago in the Osprey area?
They lack credibility and wonder why most do not respect or trust them.
It's time to erode their union, dilute wages, cull waste.
Sadly, City hall lacks judgment and listening skills to those who butter their bread. It's no wonder politics generates the worst in people.
Omar Edwin, Pitt Meadows
