One of Maple Ridges longest-running service clubs is marking a milestone on Saturday.
The Maple Ridge Aerie 2831 Fraternal Order of Eagles celebrates its 65th anniversary on Saturday, April 20 at the Eagles Hall at 23461 Fern Cres.
The members-only event will feature a tribute to 85-year-old Eddie Olson, who is Aerie 2831s last remaining charter member.
And Olson still remains active with the club today.
Olson served as Aerie president in 1953-54, and has been the clubs ritual leader throughout the years, according to past president and long-time member Gerry Acton.
Also as part of this weekends event, the family of the late Larry Moyer will accept an award in his memory.
Moyer was a past president and past provincial president, and the award is his induction into the organizations provincial hall of fame.
The local Eagles were instituted on May 16, 1948, with 145 names on the charter.
Roy Jamieson was appointed the first president and Dan Allan appointed past president.
