There were Rottweilers, Dobermans, labs, weiner dogs, and a few shih tzus at Memorial Peace Park on Saturday along with their owners, out to support people who own pit bulls. Maple Ridge council is considering changing its animal control bylaw so that it would classify pit bulls as dangerous.
About 50 people were at the park for a walk, organized to show that pit bulls are good pets like other dogs.
Dogs and owners started showing up around 11:45 a.m.
There were people of all ages from a six-month-old girl and another little baby boy, a few young kids elementary school ages, to a few elderly people, said organizer Janessa Munz.
"Overall it was an amazing walk," she said. "We had people honking and waving at us. Others were coming out of buildings and shaking our hands."
