Ridge Meadows RCMP are searching for an 81-year-old woman last seen near Hammond Park, just north of Lorne Avenue at 5:40 p.m. yesterday.

Edith Varriale, who suffers from dementia, was reported missing when her family could not find her Thursday evening.

An all-night search that included the use of a traffic service helicopter failed to turn up any signs.

Varriale is a white female, five foot eight, 180 pounds, and has curly white, should-length hair. She was last seen wearing a turquoise knee-length coat, a black and red skirt, and sandals.

Varriale is new to the area and police suspect she may try to go to Surrey, where she used to live.

Police are asking anyone who has seen Varriale to call 604-463-6251.
