A young songstress from Maple Ridge has the chance to be in the Top 10 of the Variety’s Got Talent singing competition, which will be held at River Rock Show Theatre in Richmond on Feb. 9.

Twenty-two year-old Ray Gibson, who is making waves as a YouTube sensation, will compete against 10 other hopefuls in the people’s choice competition.

The judges for the final showdown at the River Rock also include local act One More Girl, an award-winning Canadian country music duo from Maple Ridge.

Other judges are Bruce Allen, Shannon Tweed-Simmons, wife of KISS band member Gene Simmons and co-star of Gene Simmons Family Jewels, and Global BC’s Steve Darling.

The first nine of the 10 finalists in the Variety’s Got Talent singing competition were chosen by music industry professionals and now move on to the final competition at the River Rock Show Theatre.

A 10th finalist will be chosen by the public in the people’s choice competition.

Fans are encouraged to log onto The Province newspaper’s website and vote for their favourite performer from Jan. 28 to Feb. 3 – one vote per person. The winner will then join the other nine finalists at the River Rock Show Theatre on Feb. 9 to vie for the top spot.

The final winner will be announced at the end of the show and will appear on the Variety Show of Hearts Telethon that airs live on Feb. 16 and 17.

Tickets for the show at the River Rock Theatre are available at varietysgottalent.ca
