Clayton Quigley is still on the lam.

As of Friday afternoon, Ridge Meadows RCMP were still looking for Quigley, the man suspected in a break-and-enter and causing a lockdown at a local elementary school on Thursday.

After police tried to arrest the suspect in an Albion business, Quigley got away, and as a precaution Albion Elementary was locked down for about half an hour.

The business was fairly close to the school, so, according to police, it was locked down for precautionary reasons.

Police were called about 8:30 a.m. to the Albion business, and after a scuffle, the suspect escaped. The officer was not injured.

Quigley, 28, is described as a Caucasian man, 20 to 30 years old with a red beard. He is five feet, eight to 10 inches tall with a slim build. He was wearing a black hoodie, green work-style pants, a black backpack, and large black sunglasses.

He was last seen running north towards Albion Fields for Kids.

“At this time we are still looking for Mr. Quigley. In addition to the break in, he has warrants out for his arrest on unrelated matters,” said Cpl. Alanna Dunlop.

A police dog was used to track the area to no avail.

If a member of the public sees anyone suspicious, they are asked to call 911 and not try to stop or apprehend him.

In another incident on Thursday, three schools in Pitt Meadows were locked down.

Pitt Meadows Secondary staff had seen a man on the school’s property who was “assessed as a potential threat,” said Irena Pochop, communications manager for the school district.

The lockdown was done as a precautionary measure, and both Pitt Meadows Elementary and Davie Jones Elementary were also locked down.

“Police locked down both schools to ensure the safety of all students and faculty,” said Dunlop.

The suspect is a young offender and was taken into police custody.
