A young man who was killed last week was remembered by a friend today as Dawson “Pretty Boy” Spencer.

That was because he liked to have his hair just right and his Axe cologne on.

Maple Ridge Baptist Church was packed with about 500 people who had come out to remember and celebrate the life of a 17-year-old who died in a car crash early Sunday morning.

“We are a community that grieves together but we’re also a community that heals together,” said the officiating pastor Don Schuiling.

Schuiling said in speaking to the family, he learned that Dawson was an “all-out kind of guy,” but also a sensitive person.

“So sensitive he’d make sure his grandmother was walked to the door,” Schuiling said.

Schuiling explained that Dawson’s mother had met with the mother of the girl Crystal Weaver who also died in the crash.

“I’m sure they cried together, but they also started a healing process,” he said.
