Reconnecting tops itinerary

It's like coming home, said Livia Mior, as she walked through the front door of The TIMES' North Avenue offices Tuesday morning.
After three years away, the 41-year-old Maple Ridge woman has returned to The TIMES this week - taking over the helm of the community newspaper's sales team.
"I'm back. And it really is like coming home," she said.
A resident of Maple Ridge for the past 13 years, she spent eight years as a senior member of The TIMES sales team, before being invited to head up the Irish House in 2009 - in advance of the 2010 Olympics.
That experience was followed by a one-year contract position in marketing and communications with Meadowridge School, then the past year - almost - spent helping her husband Mike launch his own company, Western Shrink Wrap.
All that time, however, she said she always missed The TIMES.
So when an opportunity presented itself to rejoin the team, she said she leapt at it.
"I'm super excited to be back and looking forward to getting back out in the community," Mior added. She explained that she has actually remained in town the entire time, but missed some of the contacts she established during her tenure with the paper.
Publisher Spencer Levan is equally excited to announce Mior's return to both his staff and to the community this week.
"I'm very pleased to have Livia return to her roots in the community newspaper business," he said, particularly pleased to have Mior aboard because of her passion for the industry and her strong familiarity with the local clients and their needs.
"I'm looking forward to how great that's going to be," Levan said.
The appointment of Mior is in keeping with Glacier Media's commitment to the community, added Levan, who returned to the company in June, taking over as a full-time publisher for Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge, replacing Ryan McAdams who had been splitting his time between this community and Langley for years.
Likewise, Mior takes over for sales manager Shannon Balla, who after three-and-a-half years of splitting her time between The TIMES and a sister paper, the Langley Advance, will be focusing her full-time efforts in Langley. Balla, however, will remain a Maple Ridge resident.
"I absolutely love being back at The TIMES," Mior said, anxious to get out and reconnect with old friends while also meeting many of the new players in the local business community.
