An application for a gravel pit in Yennadon has been pulled back by the proponent.
On Wednesday, the District of Maple Ridge received word that Dave Telep and Donada Industries were withdrawing a proposal to mine up to 400,000 square feet of gravel from a property at 124th Avenue and 237th Street that is in the Agricultural Land Reserve.
The application was scheduled to come before council on Tuesday for a decision whether to forward it to the Agricultural Land Commission or not.
Maple Ridge staff had recommended that it not be forwarded to the land commission.
"I don't think it would have been supported [by council]," said Maple Ridge Mayor Ernie Daykin.
He said he had received several emails asking whether the application could come back, but, if the proponent wanted to apply again, he would have to submit a completely new application, he explained.
