Queen Walters of Pitt Meadows has had a busy year. She has taken residents' input concerning property taxes and put us all on "ignore."
There was not even an attempt to cut anywhere, just an announcement that taxes will rise the next few years.
Of course, this won't stop City hall from giving themselves a nice raise in the new year, just like this year. What is it about a budget that City hall doesn't understand? You can't continue to spend freely and raise taxes every year to cover the shortage.
Instead of the City cutting costs, they haven't even tried, saying they want to maintain service levels. Meanwhile, the residents of Pitt Meadows are expected to pay, pay, and pay some more.
Then there's the land north of Lougheed Highway. Walters cast the deciding vote for the application to remove the land from the ALR.
In the new year it looks like more of the same: higher taxes and more announcements from the throne.
Queen Walters has said previously that she is listening to our concerns. The problem is that there is a big difference between listening to us and actually hearing us.
