I have faith in the good, hard-working, honest men and women of our armed forces. Unfortunately, politicians can get in their way.

While the efforts of the armed forces are to assist ordinary folks [Armed forces always ready, Feb. 7 Letters, TIMES], the efforts of politicians are to look good so they will be re-elected to their posts, power, and money. Those are two different reasons for being.

Peter McKay has confirmed blah blah blah. Maybe it says something different in the giant budget bill we haven't seen the end of yet.
