Youth from Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows are invited to take part in the youth parliament in Victoria over Christmas where they will debate service projects for youth and implement them in 2013. Youth between the ages of 16 and 21 who are willing to commit to the year-long service can be nominated to the B.C. Youth Parliament. The deadline for applications is Oct. 23 and 95 youth will be chosen. The youth parliament will be given a budget of $25,000.
“BCYP is education and community service in action,” said Sarah O’Connor, premier for the upcoming year of BCYP. “We’re after young people who want to learn more about our system of government, make life-long friends, and take part in projects that benefit our province’s youth.”
