Police have arrested two suspected serial bank robbers, alleged to have committed 34 bank heists throughout Metro Vancouver between Oct. 11 and Dec. 20 - including one in Maple Ridge.

Charged with 20 counts of robbery along with six counts of using an imitation firearm during the commission of an offence is Duane Robert Burd, 39.

Burd is expected to plead guilty at a North Vancouver court appearance on Feb. 23, according to court records, and then will attend Vancouver Provincial Court the next day for arraignment.

His alleged accomplice, Timothy Peter Everett, 30, is facing 11 counts of robbery and three counts of using an imitation firearm during the commission of an offence.

Everett is expected in New Westminster Court on Feb. 29 fo a pre-sentencing report and in Vancouver Court for a bail hearing on March 1.

The men were arrested following an investigation involving Vancouver police, the New Westminster police department and five RCMP detachments.

The first robbery occurred Oct. 11 in North Vancouver and the spree continued with heists in Vancouver, North Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster, Langley, Coquitlam, and Maple Ridge.

It's still unclear if the bank robbery at the Bank of Montreal on Nov. 3 in Maple Ridge is related to this case.
