Police, fire, paramedics and search crews are all gathering at the base of Pitt Lake after reports of a float plane crashing between 4:30 and 5 p.m. today.

A plane has crashed into the water at Grant Narrows, and emergency teams are on scene, said Ridge Meadows RCMP Sgt. Warren Krahenbil.

He was able to confirm that the float plane was landing at the time of the crash.

Few other details are confirmed. But media reports are that it was a Cessna 172 with two people on board.

There’s no word on the condition of the pilot or passenger. But Twitter is reporting one person was rescued by citizens, while another was supposedly trapped.

The Canadian Coast Guard hovercraft is on its way, reported Ridge Meadows Search and Rescue manager Rick Laing.

He said his team have been asked to stand down.
