Two eateries were targeted by thieves this weekend – one thief was successful, the other was not.

The first heist was on Friday about 9 p.m. at the Subway restaurant in the 22800 block of Lougheed Highway where the bandit made off with an undisclosed amount of cash, said Ridge Meadows RCMP Cpl. Alanna Dunlop.

The suspect was described as Caucasian, about 6 feet tall with a medium build. He was wearing a black ski mask, a black sweater, and blue jeans. He may be in his 20s a perhaps fled in a white Honda Civic, said Dunlop.

The second robbery attempt was foiled.

Just after 9 p.m. on Saturday, police were called to the Domino’s Pizza in the 22500 block of Lougheed Highway.

Domino’s staff refused to hand over any money – despite the thief brandishing an item that Dunlop said could have been a weapon. The would-be thief left in a green minivan heading west. He was described as Caucasian, 5 ft. 10 in., with a thin build, a dark-coloured hoodie, blue jeans. He wore a green pillowcase over his head, which was recovered at the scene.
