One Maple Ridge house has become known far and wide for its all-out Halloween display.

The Peacock family has been decorating its house on River Road for Halloween for 15 years, and it has become a destination for trick-or-treaters.

It's commonly referred to as the "spider-web house," said Terry Peacock, whose three children seriously get right into the Halloween spirit.

A giant spider in its enormous web is just part of the front-lawn display which grows every year with recycled decorations - like a discarded wedding arch - with added ghoulish twists.

As they decorate, they get people honking and thanking them for putting up the display, and some years on Oct. 31, they get upwards of 200 trick-or-treaters. People come from as far as Abbotsford and New Westminster. And no matter what age, they are welcome at the Peacocks' door.

"I don't care what age you are... as long as you're in costume," Peacock said.

They continue to do it partly because it's a family tradition, but partly because it's part of the community, Peacock said.

The neighbours also get into the spirit, and provide music on Halloween to go with the display.

The family puts up five of everything, as there are five people in the family - or were - until the father passed away from cancer related to smoking.

Hence, the tombstone with the epitaph "R.I.P. Here lies the last person who smoked in my house."

Peacock said her husband would have thought that tombstone was hilarious.

The sign is especially poignant, as the teens' grandmother is struggling with cancer as well.

This year on Hallow's Eve, the family will be collecting donations for the Canadian Cancer Society.

The Peacock home is at 21110 River Road.
