It was a long time in the making but Rotary Field at Samuel Robertson Technical has a new scoreboard.
"Honestly, it took them some time to put it up, but once it was up it was well worth it because it's a great clock," said Cody Lidstone, 15, who plays for the SRT Titans as a tackle.
Mark Ogloff, who is the SRT Titans' head coach and the president of the Meadow Ridge Football Association said that the scoreboard was erected at the south end of Rotary Field the last week of August, about two years after the project began.
"A lot of people wanted it put in the north end, but it's on the south end because it doesn't get washed out by the sun, it's closer to power, and the ground is more firm," Ogloff explained.
The principal of SRT Mike Keenan was at the official unveiling on Thursday night as well, and spoke highly of the Meadow Ridge Rotary, who donated $18,000 for the clock.
"Like the field, our school is indebted to the Rotary, first for the field and now for the score clock. We certainly wouldn't have a football club like this," Keenan said.
"We worked hard to get this clock put in. We had involvement from Rotary, the school board, parks board, and the Knights," said Glen Cote, Peewee Gold Knights coach and MRFA board member.
