Group entries seem to have captivated the judges at this year’s Santa Claus parade in Maple Ridge. Results were released this week from the parade, which was held on Dec. 1 in downtown Maple Ridge, on an evening plagued with rain and cold. Despite that, thousands came out to participate in and watch the festive event. A full list of winning entries has been released.
“ We had a wonderful evening despite the rain, enjoying this Maple Ridge holiday tradition,” said publicity corodinator Natalie Freer.
“Good job to everyone” who entered in the parade, she said, listing off the winners in the various categories.
Veinotte Horse Farm, which provided Santa’s sleigh won the best animal entry.
Maple Ridge Concert Band won in the band category.
Golden Ears United Church won in the church and non-profit category.
SPECC-tacular Productions Theatre Group earned top title among the commercial entries.
Fabulous Feet Dance School won in the dance category.
Canada Post Corporatiano won for the best mascot.
Stepping Blocks Child Care won in the non-profit centre category.
The best sports category was won by Ridge Meadows Minor Softball, and the 1st Haney Scouts Christmas trees entry earned them accolades for the best non-profit youth float.
“The Maple Ridge Christmas Festival Society would like to thank all of the businesses, organizations and groups who took part in the 2012 Santa Claus Parade,” Freer said.
