The Haney Farmers Market received a $10,000 from Vancity to help pay for its staffing costs.

Vancity has given grants to the local farmers market over several years, said market manager Eileen Dwillies.

Attendance at the Haney market was up considerably this year, until the rain hit last weekend. Attendance at the market is always dependent on the weather, Dwillies said.

Over the summer Vancity will be giving away 15,000 vouchers valued at $5 at Vancity community events (see www.vancity.com/AboutUs/OurEvents) which can be redeemed at farmers markets to support the purchase of local, natural and organic food.
